Team India’s former middle-order batter and former CSK player, Ambati Rayadu, gives valuable advice to both Ms. Dhoni and CSK ahead of the upcoming IPL season.
Rayudu, who has been with CSK for the past year, is all set to make his commentary debut in the upcoming IPL season.
However, ahead of the upcoming IPL season, Rayadu feels that CSK’s skipper, Ms. Dhoni, can use the impact player rule and groom a captain for CSK in the upcoming IPL season in the near future.
In the star sports press room, Rayadu said, “With the Impact Player rule, he (Dhoni) can take a back seat and promote someone to captain their side in the middle (overs). So this year might be a transition year for CSK. If it’s his last year, if he decides to play for a few more years, I think he would be the captain. I would personally like to see him as a captain.”
Recently, a buzz was created by Ms. Dhoni about playing a new role in the upcoming IPL season via social media posts.
Speaking on the same topic, a former CSK player said, “With Dhoni Bhai, you never know, but knowing him and what’s happened in the last few seasons, I doubt that he would really promote himself up the order and he would promote a youngster there because Conway is injured.”
Ambati Rayadu further added that “I’m sure with his batting he may promote himself one or two up, but not in the top order.”
However, Rayudu went on to praise Dhoni for his commitment to CSK.

Speaking about the same, Rayadu said, “I think if he has decided to play this season and if he is even 10 percent fit, he will definitely play the full season, and knowing him, injury will not keep him out of the game, and he has played through many injuries.
“Even during the last season, he was playing with a very bad knee injury. So, I don’t think anything will stop him from playing the full season.”
Rayadu also said that Dhoni doesn’t like too much chopping and changing because he likes to play with the same 11 with a little bit of change throughout the season, keeping the conditions in mind.
