Devdutt Padikkal Ruled Out Of Action For Four Weeks Due To Thumb Injury

Promising young talent Devdutt Padikkal has encountered a setback as he has been ruled out of action for the next three to four weeks due to a thumb fracture sustained during the Deodhar Trophy earlier this month. Padikkal, known for his dynamic left-handed batting, was expected to participate in the ongoing Maharaja KSCA T20 trophy for the Gulbarga Mystics but had to withdraw due to his injury.

The 21-year-old cricketer, who has represented India in two T20Is, provided insight into his injury and treatment process. He disclosed that he underwent minor surgery to address the left-thumb fracture sustained during the Deodhar Trophy. While this temporary setback is disappointing, Padikkal remains optimistic about his recovery.

Sharing an update on social media, Padikkal expressed his determination to recover from the injury. His announcement reflects his resilience and eagerness to return to the field immediately. The injury also poses a challenge for the Gulbarga Mystics in the Maharaja KSCA T20 trophy, as Padikkal’s performances had established him as a key player for the team.

“I had a left-thumb fracture during the Deodhar Trophy. So, I had to undergo a minor surgery to get that fixed. I will probably be out of the game for three to four weeks. Hopefully, I can be back on the field soon,” he informed Fancode.

Recently, the young Rajasthan Royals’ batter took to social media to share his recovery journey, saying, “Just a quick update. Sustained a fracture on my left thumb and had to undergo surgery. The road to recovery begins now, and I’m eager to return to the field soon.”

In the Deodhar Trophy final, Padikkal’s team, South Zone, emerged victorious with a commanding 45-run win against East Zone in Puducherry. The team’s dominance was evident, having clinched their ninth title and achieved a perfect record in all five league matches throughout the tournament.

As he embarks on his recovery journey, Padikkal might target his comeback in the next Indian domestic tournament, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, scheduled to commence on October 16. His absence will undoubtedly be felt by Rajasthan Royals, his IPL franchise, and cricket enthusiasts alike, who are eagerly anticipating his return to the field, where he is known for his remarkable ability to dismantle bowlers with his aggressive batting style.
