DC vs GT, IPL 2024: Penalty For Rasikh Salam For Breaching IPL Code Of Conduct, Here Is What The Pacer Did

Delhi Capitals player Rasikh Salam Dar was warned for his enthusiastic celebration after his team’s thrilling win against Gujarat Titans in an IPL 2024 match on Wednesday night at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In this match, Delhi Capitals beat the visitors Gujarat by four runs.

Rasikh was the best performer for DC in bowling, he grabbed three wickets for 44 runs in four overs. He dismissed B Sai Sudarshan, Shahrukh Khan, and R Sai Kishore and helped Delhi Capitals to get a win over GT.

“Dar committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” read a statement from IPL.

To those who don’t know, the article 2.5 deals with “language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from another player.”

DC won the game by a margin of four runs and secured their fourth win of the season. This victory has elevated them to the sixth position on the IPL points table.

In the match, Pant handed the ball to Rasikh for the 19th over of the GT innings with 37 runs required to win. The right-arm pacer spent 18 runs but he managed to take the crucial wicket of Sai Kishore.

“(Anrich) Nortje was having a tough time. T20 is a funny game, after 14-15 overs the ball was coming on nicely. So we wanted to trust Rasikh, always trust someone who is bowling well in a game. I think it is about instincts as a captain, it will come off sometimes. Happy it worked today,” Pant explained his decision.
