In the 40th match of the IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals beat Gujarat Titans by four runs in the most important match for both the teams played at Arun Jaitley Stadium. David Miller scored a rapid 55 runs from 23 balls, while Sai Sudharsan contributed 65 runs before Rashid Khan’s impressive performance couldn’t help Gujarat Titans win.
In the last over of the innings, bowled by Mohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant went all out and smashed 31 runs with four sixes and one boundary. This boosted Delhi Capitals’ total to 224/4 against Gujarat Titans on Wednesday.
Gujarat Titans began well where Sandeep Warrier grabbed three wickets early in the game, which troubled Delhi. However, Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel (66) stabilized Delhi’s innings. Tristan Stubbs also contributed with a quick knock of 26 runs from just 7 balls.
While chasing the target of 225 runs, Gujarat Titans needed 19 runs off the last over. For Delhi Capitals, Mukesh Kumar had the bowl and Rashid Khan smashed two consecutive fours against Mukesh. After a couple of dot balls, Gujarat came on the equation of 11 runs off the final two balls and Khan smashed a six on the second last ball of the innings but failed to execute on the final ball.
Rashid Khan remained not out on 21 runs off 11 balls but failed to take Gujarat for a victory.
