“Daughter on his…”Rohit’s Mother’s latest post takes the internet by Storm

Rohit Sharma guided the Indian team to a fantastic victory, winning the World title as the Men in Blue beat South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados.

India’s previous victories in major tournaments were the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the Champions Trophy in 2013. Since then, they hadn’t won any major titles, even though they often reached the later stages of tournaments.

After India’s win, many emotional photos spread across the internet, capturing the joy of the victory. One popular photo showed Indian captain Rohit Sharma with his daughter Samaira and Virat Kohli, which circulated widely on social media.

Rohit’s mom, Purnima Sharma, posted a photo on social media that became very popular. In her message, she said, “His daughter on his shoulders, his country on his back, and his brother by his side.”

Rohit decided to stop playing T20 matches after the final game. He talked about this in a meeting with reporters, just like Virat Kohli did. Rohit said, “That was my last game too. I really enjoyed playing this type of game since I started. Now is the perfect time to leave this type of game. I loved every part of it. I began my career in India playing this type of game. This is what I wanted to do: win the Cup and then say goodbye.”

“This is.. my last T20 game playing for India. It’s the last World Cup I was going to play, so I wanted to make the most of it and this was our aim. We wanted to win an ICC tournament. We wanted to lift the cup and as I said it was the occasion that helped me to put my head down and just respect the situation rather than trying to force things out there and really play the game that my team wanted me to play. (Have just you made an announcement about T20Is?) Yes I have. This was an open secret (smiles). It was not something that I was not going to announce even if we had lost. This was going to be my last T20 World Cup playing for India. It’s time for the next generation to take over,” Kohli had said to the broadcasters after the final.
