Chennai Super Kings (CSK) purchased Prashant Veer as the most valuable uncapped player during the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) Auction for a price of INR 14.2 crore but he encountered an injury problem while participating in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. The player fielding for Uttar Pradesh against Jharkhand sustained his injury when he was seen holding his shoulder, and he remained on the ground without movement.
The accident occurred before the lunch break when Veer attempted to catch a ball which he successfully intercepted but Veer suffered an injury when he collided with his right shoulder on the ground.
The medical staff removed him from the game to perform tests which showed he required a shoulder sling after his return. The player will not continue participating in this match.
Will Prashant Veer be available for CSK in IPL 2026?
CSK needs to assess how the young player will recover from his recent injury because his return to games depends on the time needed for his recovery. Prashant Veer has sustained a grade-2 tear which will require him to rest for approximately three weeks according to medical experts.
The IPL 2026 schedule remains undisclosed but the competition will take place between March and May which allows Prashant Veer to prepare for competition yet his return will depend on how well he recovers before the season commences.
