CSK Pacer Shatters 78-Year-Old Record, Creates History in Ranji Trophy

Mumbai’s pace bowler, who plays for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, Tushar Deshpande, has been the talk of the town, as the pacer stunned everyone with his prolific innings with the bat.

Tushar Deshpande scored a brilliant century for the Mumbai team, batting at number 11. Deshpande scored a top-class 123 of 129 balls, which is the highest score by a batter at number 11.

This record was previously held by Shue Banerjee, who scored 121 against Surrey during England’s tour way back in 1946.

Multiple records were shattered in the history of the Ranji Trophy as Tanush Kotian and Tushar Deshpande became the first ever number 10 and 11 batters to score hundreds in a Ranji Trophy game.

Both batters added 232 runs for the 10th wicket.
This partnership was broken when Deshpande was dismissed by Tanush Kotian and remained not out on 120, taking Mumbai’s score from 337/9 to 569/10.

Well, this was actually the third time that two players batting on numbers 10 and 11 have been able to add 200 or more runs for the final wicket. Swarte and Banerjee added 249 runs, becoming the first pair to do so. On the other hand, both Manindar Singh and Ajay Sharma added 233 runs against Mumbai in the 1991/92 semi-final of the Ranji Trophy.
