Celebrating Prithvi Shaw: The Heroic Return in Ranji Trophy

Team India’s and Mumbai’s hard-hitting opener, Prithvi Shaw, makes his Ranji Trophy comeback in grand style. Shaw scored a top-class century for Mumbai in the second innings of the match against Chattisgarh.

The under-19 World Cup-winning captain was in red-hot form as he hit 18 boundaries and three sixes in his innings of 159, for which he took only 185 deliveries.

Prithvi reached the three-figure mark before lunch itself and became the first Indian to score two centuries in the first session of the match.

Shaw earlier achieved the same feat in his innings of 383, in which he took only 379 balls against Assam. 383 by Shaw is the second-highest score in Ranji Trophy history.

Shaw made a comeback in cricket after six months of being out of action due to injury. He was back in the Mumbai team for their last-round fixture against Bengal, in which he scored 35 runs.

Prithvi Shaw last played for the Northants in the month of August of the previous year. His last match, in which he played for the Indian team, was way back in 2021.

Shaw suffered a knee injury while playing county cricket, for which he had to go for surgery in London, after which he completed three months of rehab.
