Archer was bought by Mumbai Indians for Rs 8 crore in the mega auction held before the 2022 season. Although then Archer was out for the whole year due to injury, and knowing this, Mumbai bought him. He could not play in the 2022 season; in the 2023 season, he could only play 5 matches. Due to not being fully fit, he had to leave the tournament in the middle.
