The two-time IPL champions, KKR, received a major boost coming into this year’s IPL as their skipper, Shreyas Iyer, is likely to be available for the entire IPL season.
All the players, like Rinku Singh and Manish Pandey, have started their preparation for this year’s IPL. However, there were speculations about Shreyas Iyer missing the initial matches of the IPL, but Shreyas Iyer is set to be available for the entire match and is likely to join the team on Saturday.
Shreyas Iyer was recently seen in action, playing the Ranji Trophy final match for his team. He made a prolific 95 before his issue related to his back started to discomfort him again.
According to Manish Pandey, “We are hoping that after getting clearance from NCA, which I think he did, he will come back and join the squad ASAP. We are happy to have him.”
Apart from Shreyas Iyer fitness, Pandey said, “It will be a great experience to play under Shreyas. We are looking forward to it.”
On KKR’s ex-captain and mentor Gautam Gambhir’s comeback, Manish Pandey said”, “To start with him, I came back to KKR, and it feels good. Gauti Bhai, as a mentor, is feeling great, as we have won the IPL before under his captaincy. Some of the older faces are still there. And we hope to come back this season.”
KKR will start their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on March 23.
