Breaking News: Mumbai Indians Suffer A Huge Blow Ahead Of IPL As Star Pacer Is Ruled Out, Franchise Named Replacement.

The 17th season of the IPL is all set to start in less than a week’s time.

However, ahead of the upcoming IPL season, the Mumbai Indians suffered a huge blow as their star bowler Jason Behrendorff has been ruled out of the IPL due to injury. Five-time champions have signed Luke Wood as his replacement.

Jason Behrendorff had been one of the best performers for the Mumbai Indians in their previous edition of the IPL. The pacer picked up 14 wickets in 12 matches and was set to feature alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee.

Speaking of Luke Wood,the pacer has played just five matches for England at international level but has been playing in 20 leagues around the world.

Luke Wood is currently playing PSL for Peshawar Zalmi. So far, he has picked up 12 wickets in 11 matches in the ongoing season.

In an official statement from the Governing Council, it was stated that “Mumbai Indians (MI) name Luke Wood as a replacement for the injured Jason Behrendorff for the upcoming TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.”

“Wood, a left-arm pacer, has played 5 T20Is for England, in addition to 2 ODIs, and has 8 T20I wickets against his name. Wood will join MI for INR 50 lac.”

Apart from lukewarm wood, the Mumbai Indians are also set to miss the services of Dilshan Madhushanka and Gerald Coetzee for the initial matches of the IPL.
