Kolkata Knight Riders announced Indian batter Nitish Rana as their new skipper for the upcoming season of IPL. KKR made this announcement from its official Twitter handle. In that statement, KKR congratulates Nitish Rana on becoming the skipper. However, they sympathize with Shreyas Iyer and pray for a fast recovery.
Nitish Rana joined the KKR camp in the year 2018. The special thing is that Nitish has the experience of captaincy. Nitish has captained Delhi in T20 and also in first-class cricket. He has played 91 IPL matches in which he scored 2181 with an average of 28.32 and a strike rate of 134.22. His highest score is 87 runs, and he has 7 wickets registered to his name in 91 matches.
On the other hand, there is not any further update on Shreyas Iyer’s injury. It will be interesting to see whether he will play the IPL matches. Because earlier, he denied for back surgery regarding the upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023. But now KKR has announced a new skipper, which will be tough for him.
