ICC has announced major changes in their rules for the Semi-final and final matches of the T20 World Cup 2022. If Semi-Final and Final matches will be interrupted due to rain then DLS will be only applied if each side has played at least 10 overs. Whereas in the group stage DLS was applicable in the 5-5 overs matches as well.
Reserve Day For Semi-Final and Final.
If on the scheduled day of the Semi-Final and Final matches each side wouldn’t have played 10 overs each then the remaining match will be completed on the reserve day, and if, the semi-final match will be washed out on a reserved day, as well, then side having topped the group will qualify for the Finals.
What If Final Will Be Washed Out?
In case the final will be also washed out on the reserve day as well, then the T20 World Cup title will be shared between both teams. The semi-final matches of this year’s T20 World Cup will be played on the 9th and 10th of November and the Final will be played on the 13th. There are few matches left in this group stage and, till now, only New Zealand has fixed their birth for the semifinals, whereas teams like England, Australia, India, South Africa, and Pakistan are still in the hunt for the Semi Final spot.
