There is no confirmation regarding KL Rahul’s participation in the Dharamsala Test. The BCCI, national selectors, and team management are contemplating the possibility of resting some players for the final match of the five-game Test series which is set to begin on March 7.
Rahul is currently facing discomfort in his right quadriceps, an area for which he underwent surgery in 2023, leading to an extended absence from cricket. The team management is adopting a cautious approach and is unwilling to take any chances with the wicketkeeper-batsman.
India has already secured victory in the Test series against England, and there is a possibility of him being sidelined as his return from London is yet to be confirmed. He sustained an injury in the Hyderabad Test and was unavailable for the subsequent three matches due to a lack of recovery.
He was included in the squad for the last three Tests, but his participation was contingent on his fitness. His recuperation is crucial for the Lucknow Super Giants, especially since he is set to captain them in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024.
India is currently playing with a bunch of youngsters who have proved themselves in the ongoing Test series against England. The match in Dharamsala will be the last of the series and after this game, India will not have any Test series till the 2024 T20I World Cup.
