Big Move Taken By OYO For Cricket Fans Regarding The Upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023

OYO, a hospitality technology platform, has announced plans to add 500 new hotels in the host cities of India’s upcoming men’s cricket World Cup. The move aims to meet the anticipated increase in booking demand as cricket fans worldwide travel to witness their favourite teams in action. The new hotels will be strategically located near the stadiums, ensuring ease of access for the spectators.

According to OYO, announcing dates for a marquee cricket tournament automatically increases travel demand. The company spokesperson stated that OYO intends to ensure that everyone travelling long distances to support their favourite teams has access to comfortable and affordable accommodation during the tournament. The spokesperson also mentioned that hotel tariffs have increased due to the heightened demand across host cities, and OYO has observed a significant surge in demand during the World Cup.

“OYO will add 500 hotels in host cities in the next three months to meet the demand for the Cricket World Cup. We want to ensure that everyone travelling from far away to watch their favourite teams has access to comfortable and affordable accommodation,” the spokesperson added.

The ICC ODI Men’s World Cup is scheduled to begin on October 5 and conclude on November 19. Matches will be held in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Delhi, Dharamsala, Chennai, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Pune, with the final taking place in Ahmedabad.

In addition to OYO, online travel services provider MakeMyTrip has launched a program encouraging residents in the host cities to list their properties on its platform. The company has observed a significant surge in the search for homestay properties in cities like Ahmedabad, Dharamshala, and key metros. MakeMyTrip has also introduced a new feature that displays the distance of the accommodation from the cricket stadium to assist cricket fans in choosing the most suitable option.

MakeMyTrip’s Chief Business Officer, Alternate Accommodation & Customer Contact Group, Parikshit Choudhury, expressed optimism about the willingness of cricket fans to explore homestays as an accommodation option. He highlighted that many homestay properties in cricket centres during October and November are still available at an economical price.
