Big Loss For World Cricket, Former Zimbabwe Coach Passed Away

Zimbabwe National Team fielding coach Shepherd Makunura has passed away at the age of 46 years. This is the most shocking news for the world cricket fraternity; he was admitted to a private hospital and succumbed due to illness.

Currently, he is also head coach of Masvingo- Southern Rock, where he trained some international-level players like; Sikandar Raza, Blessing Muzarabani, and Roy Kaia.

He has also served the Zimbabwe A team as the head coach. His wife is also the current coach of Zimbabwe’s senior women’s national team assistant coach. He has two children.

Zimbabwe Cricket Board Managing Director Givemore Makoni expressed his condolence on the passing of the former essential servant of Zimbabwe cricket.

“On behalf of Zimbabwe Cricket, our deepest sympathies are with his family, colleagues and friends as they come to terms with losing such an affable and wonderful man, We have lost one of our very best coaches, an unsung hero of our game who has been instrumental in the unearthing and nurturing of many of Zimbabwe’s talented players.” Mr Makoni said.
Fans and cricket experts of Zimbabwe cricket also showed their condolence on the passing of the unsung hero of Zimbabwe.

“Just learnt of the passing of Shepherd Makunura. Such a loving and gentle man. He coached me, at U19 level, provincial and national. He was also a great mentor away from the game and always wanted us to be better men and better cricketers. Sad loss for,” a fan reacted on Twitter.
