Big Decision Of West Bengal Government On Former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly’s Security

The West Bengal government has decided to increase the security of the former captain of the Indian cricket team Sourav Ganguly. Mamta Banerjee government will now give Z category security to Ganguly.

Under the new security arrangements, the former BCCI president will be guarded by eight to 10 police officers. Three police officers guarded Ganguly under the Y-category security cover. An equal number of security personnel guarded his residence in Behala.
The former BCCI president earlier had ‘Y’ category security.

After its expiry, on Tuesday (May 16), the government upgraded Ganguly’s security. An official from the Bengal government told news agency PTI, “After the VVIP security was over, the review was done as per protocol. After that, it was decided to upgrade Ganguly’s security to the Z category.”

On Tuesday, representatives of the state secretariat reached Ganguly’s Behala office. They met with officials from Kolkata Police Headquarters Lalbazar and the local police station.

“Ganguly is currently traveling with his team Delhi Capitals and will return to Kolkata on May 21. From that day onwards, he will start getting Z-category security,” the official said.

Governor CV Anand Bose, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Trinamool Congress MP, and National Secretary Abhishek Banerjee get Z-plus security in West Bengal. Ministers like Firhad Hakim and Moloy Ghatak are given Z-category security. BJP’s West Bengal president Sukanta Majumdar gets Z and CISF security.
