At the end of Day 2 of the first match of Border-Gavaskar trophy team India was in solid position with a lead of 144 runs. Not only Rohit Sharma smashed a much-awaited test hundred but Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel also smashed fifties before the game’s closure on day 2.
This series is very important for Team India seeing the position of teams in the points table of ICC Test Championship. However, team India has now got a setback and the news regarding Jasprit Bumrah is surfacing over the internet.
Earlier the comeback of Bumrah was believed to have for the third and the fourth match of this series but now it feels the fans have to wait a bit longer to see their favourite bowler in action.
According to a report in Telegraph, BCCI doesn’t want to take any risk with Jasprit Bumrah seeing the ODI World Cup ahead in the later part of this year. BCCI feels that the current Border-Gavaskar trophy has mostly been occupied with spin tracks and bringing Bumrah would not make a difference.
Bumrah has been rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy, where he has been bowling with great intensity since going out of action in September of last year, a BCCI source who spoke to the publication.
Bumrah, who first experienced back pain during the West Indies tour in August, made a comeback for India in the T20I series against Australia in September 2022. The pacer’s injury increased, unfortunately, as a result of the rush, and he was forced to miss another two months of action.
Bumrah was scheduled to return in the ODI series against Sri Lanka but was sidelined once more with a niggle, missing the ODI matches against New Zealand and the first two Test matches against Australia.
