Big Blow For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan To Miss First Two ODIs Against Sri Lanka; Here Is The Reason

The star elg spinner from the Afghanistan Cricket team, Rashid Khan Rashid Khan has been sidelined from the first two ODIs against Sri Lanka due to a lower-back injury. However, it is anticipated that the sensational bowler will return for the third and final ODI scheduled on June 7 in Hambantota.

The three-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan is set to commence on Friday, June 2. The first ODI will be played in Hambantota. The second ODI is scheduled for Sunday, June 4, at the same venue. After this ODI series against Sri Lanka, Afghanistan will move to Bangladesh to play a one-off Test match scheduled at Chattogram.

After the omission of Rashid Khan, the spin department of the Afghanistan team will rely heavily on Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and chinaman Noor Ahmad who had an amazing season in the IPL 2023 playing for Gujarat Titans. Hashmatullah Shahidi will captain the Afghanistan cricket team in the series against Lanka.

While giving an update on Rashid Khan’s injury, Afghanistan Cricket Board stated, “He will remain under full medical observation, and is expected to return for the final ODI on June 7.”

Rashid Khan had the most memorable season for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023. In the 17 matches he played, he grabbed 27 wickets at a decent economy rate of 8.34.
