Trishul-Shaped Dome
The stadium’s roof boasts a trident-shaped dome, a symbolic representation of Lord Shiva’s weapon, the Trishul. This stunning architectural choice immediately sets it apart from conventional stadiums.
Damru-Inspired Floodlights
The floodlights surrounding the stadium are designed to resemble Lord Shiva’s Damru, a small drum. These uniquely designed floodlights will illuminate the stadium like never before.
Belpatra-Themed Entrance
The entrance gate is crafted to resemble Bael leaves, known as Belpatra, which hold immense significance in Hindu rituals and are often associated with Lord Shiva.

The realization of this grand vision falls upon Larsen & Toubro (L&T), the renowned engineering and construction conglomerate. The project’s plans have been meticulously finalized, and the next crucial steps involve obtaining approval from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and securing no-objection certificates from various relevant departments, including those overseeing forests and groundwater.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation for this state-of-the-art international cricket stadium on September 23 in Varanasi’s Ganjari Area. The estimated cost of this architectural wonder is approximately INR 450 crore, and it will boast modern amenities while accommodating around 30,000 spectators.

The project will be executed in several phases. After acquiring the necessary no-objection certificates, the initial phase will focus on leveling the acquired land and constructing the stadium’s boundary wall. The government has allocated INR 120 crore for land acquisition, with the remaining INR 330 crore designated for the stadium’s construction.

Upon completion, this international cricket stadium, which can host 30,000 spectators, will be well-prepared to host prestigious international cricket matches. Additionally, the development of roads and other necessary facilities in the stadium’s vicinity will commence soon.
The operation and management of the stadium will be overseen by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Through a long-term lease agreement, the BCCI will be responsible for running the stadium efficiently. As part of this agreement, the board will also make an annual fixed payment to the government in exchange for the lease.
