The captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, Harmanpreet Kaur, and the honorary Secretary of BCCI, Jay Shah, unveiled the new ODI jersey on Thursday in Mumbai.
BCCI said, “Mr Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary, BCCI & Ms Harmanpreet Kaur, Captain, Indian Cricket Team unveiled #TeamIndia’s new ODI jersey.”
“It is my honor to unveil the jersey today,” Harmanpreet said.
The Indian women’s team will now be seen continuing with the new outfit against their West Indies counterparts in the next three-match series.
“I’m really happy that we are the first one to wear it against the West Indies,” she buoyed up.
“It’s one of the best jerseys which has features available with the Indian flag on the shoulder design. Harmanpreet seemed to have liked it,” added, the spokesperson of sportswear superbrand, Adidas.
“The Indian skipper said,” We are really happy with the jersey; we really like the look”.
“The pattern with the shoulder in tricolour looks beautiful,” commented the 35-year-old.
“Really happy having a special ODI jersey,” said the top-order batter.
She went on to describe the special feeling that one would get donning the famous blue kit and hopefully Indian fans too would take to this new version of the classic jersey with warmth.
“It is always special wearing the national jersey because of ample hard work that goes behind it,” Harmanpreet continued.
“Hopefully the Indian fans also feel the pride when wearing it,” the 35-year-old concluded.
The Indian women’s team take on the touring Windies women in a three-match T20I series beginning on the 15th of December at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. This will be followed by three ODIs against women from the Caribbean commencing on the 22nd of December at the Reliance Cricket Ground in Vadodara.
