The wait that cricket fans have been looking forward to is finally over. The Women’s Premier League schedule is here, and the competition will begin with Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on Mumbai Indians in Vadodara on January 14, 2027.

The WPL announcement also turns attention towards the IPL schedule, with fans now hoping that its fixtures will follow soon.

WPL 2027 Begins With a Clash Between Its Only Champions

Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru have shared every WPL title so far. Mumbai won the inaugural edition in 2023, RCB lifted the trophy in 2024, Mumbai reclaimed it in 2025, and RCB became champions again in 2026.

That makes the opening fixture a fitting contest between the league’s two most successful teams, with two titles each. Defending champions RCB will begin their campaign against the side that has matched them trophy for trophy.

Can UP Warriorz Challenge RCB and Mumbai Indians?

RCB and Mumbai Indians enter the title discussion as strong contenders. Their success across the first four seasons gives them a clear record of winning the competition.

But UP Warriorz could emerge as a serious challenger this season. Their auction additions include Sophie Molineux and the returning Grace Harris, giving them more options as they look to break the two-team hold on the trophy.

Will RCB become the first team to defend the WPL title successfully, will Mumbai move ahead with a third championship, or will UP Warriorz help deliver a new winner?
