The young opening batter Ayush Mhatre’s maiden T20 century was the one that led Mumbai to win against Vidarbha in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 match. Mhatre’s world record broke by Rohit Sharma made him the youngest player to score a century in all three formats of cricket as per ESPNcricinfo.
The 18-year-old batter did a marvelous match-winning job in Mumbai’s hunt for 193 against Vidarbha at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow on Friday. Mhatre was not out at 110 runs off 53 balls with eight fours and eight sixes, leading the team to a victory of seven wickets with 13 balls to spare.
Ayush Mhatre shatters Rohit Sharma’s Record scores 100 in Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy
Heaps of the knock, Ayush Mhatre has also partnered a small society of players who have reached three-format hundreds at such a tender age. With just 18 years and 135 days, he is now recognized as the youngest player to score a century in all three formats of domestic cricket (First-Class, List A, and T20).
The record before Mhatre was held by Rohit Sharma who had reached 19 years and 339 days while completing centuries in all formats. Rohit scored Mumbai’s first T20 hundred in 2007 and then hit India’s first T20 century. Unmukt Chand, Quinton de Kock, and Ahmed Shehzad accomplished this around the age of 20 years.
In the international circuit, Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett is the youngest player to score centuries in all formats (Test, ODI, and T20I). Bennett did this at the age of 21 during the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier held in September 2025.
Ayush Mhatre is the One Who is Going to Take India through U-19 Asia Cup 2025
Ayush Mhatre’s IPL 2025 saw him making his T20 debut for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He performed so well that CSK decided to keep him before the auction of 2026. The young batsman is going to be the India captain in U-19 Asia Cup in December and U-19 World Cup in January 2026.
Mhatre was the youngest player to make a List A century at the age of 17 years and 168 days in January 2025 when he hit 181 runs against Nagaland. He has now made two centuries in each of the First-Class and List A categories.
He scored 240 runs for CSK in the last season in seven innings with a bat speed almost 189, which included one fifty. His talent for giving fiery starts was the reason why the team decided to keep him, with the expectation that he would grow into a major player in their long-term core.
Ayush Mhatre’s 110 help Mumbai to thump Vidarbha
Ayush Mhatre’s score was 110 not out off 53 balls and this was one of the main reasons the team won by seven wickets. His quick-fire innings was when Mumbai was experiencing early difficulty at 21 for 2 due to the rapid out of Ajinkya Rahane and Hardik Tamore.
Mhatre first, together with Suryakumar Yadav who scored 35 in an 88-run partnership, re-established the innings. After Suryakumar’s out, Shivam Dube came in and together with Mhatre they scored an unbeaten 39 helping Mumbai speed up and finish the chase with 13 balls left at 194 for 3.
Before that, Vidarbha had posted a challenging total of 192 for 9, on the back of half-centuries from Atharva Taide and Aman Mokhade who put up a 115-run opening partnership. Just then, the Mumbai bowlers, Shivam Dube and Sairaj Patil, who claimed three wickets each, kept their team in the game and with that ensured that they remained within reach of the target.
