Australia’s Cameron Green and Hazlewood: A Duo for the History Books

The dazzling duo of Cameron Green and Josh Hazelwood created history for Australia as the duo added the most runs for the final wicket for Australia against New Zealand.

The pair toiled with the Black Caps bowling attack on day two, adding 116 for the final wicket, breaking the record of Jason Gillespie and Glenn McGrath, who added 114 for the final wicket in Brisbane way back in 2004.

It was Cameron Green who brought Australia back into the hunt, batting at number four for the Australian team. After losing the toss, New Zealand invited Australia to bat, and the visitors were in a peculiar situation at 156/5.

However, Cameron Green and the Australian lower order led their fightback in the match, scoring a prolific 174 that included 23 boundaries and five towering sixes.

This was only the sixth time that Australia recorded 100 runs or more for the final wicket in test matches. This partnership between Green and Hazelwood helped Australia post a mammoth total of 383 in their first inning.

This was Cameron Green’s second hundred for Australia in the test format of the game. His first hundred came against India in Ahemdabad the previous year, when he scored 114  on a turning wicket.
