Star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has clinched a world record to his name after his devastating 120-run knock against West Indies in the second T20I match played at Adelaide Oval.
Glenn Maxwell equalled the record set by India’s captain Rohit Sharma for the highest number of centuries in the T20I format. He scored a scintillating 120 runs against West Indies in the 2nd T20 on Sunday. At present, both numbers of players are standing at five International T20 series.
Maxwell achieved the milestone of 120 runs in just 55 balls, showcasing a remarkable innings that included 12 boundaries and 8 sixes. His explosive performance played a crucial role in Australia reaching a total of 241/4.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma has also five international centuries to his name. After Rohit and Glenn Maxwell, Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav was named third in the list with four centuries to his name.
Glenn Maxwell talked about his heroic inning during the mid-break and said, “It was good fun, that’s for sure. Always good batting here, we saw in the Big Bash how good the wickets were during the tournament. The wicket was nice and true. I have always rely on my hand speed, which worked for me today. Give myself the best chance always. My parents are here In Adelaide as well. Nice to play a positive knock.”
Despite a solid innings of 63 from captain Rovman Powell, the West Indies fell short in the chase, losing the match by 34 runs.
This is the second consecutive win for Australia in this three-match T20I series. After winning the first game by 11 runs and this second by 34 runs, Australia has already secured the innings.
