Former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has made a big claim regarding the Asia Cup 2023. He says that due to the ongoing tussle between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), there is every possibility of cancellation of the Asia Cup 2023.
Kaneria said that there is not much time left. Even though the tournament dates have been announced, the complete schedule has not been released yet. This is the reason why this time’s Asia Cup can be cancelled.
Danish Kaneria said on his YouTube channel, “When Rameez Raja was the PCB chairman, he had clearly said that if India does not send its team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, then Pakistan will also not go to India to play the ODI World Cup.”
The current PCB chairman Najam Sethi has also repeated the same thing. For this reason, there is a possibility that the Asia Cup will not be held.
The Asia Cup 2023 was hosted by Pakistan. Last year, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah clarified that the Indian team would not go to Pakistan under any circumstances. After this, there were very sharp reactions from Pakistan.
PCB chairman Najam Sethi does not want to lose the hosting of the Asia Cup under any circumstances, so he raised this issue several times in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting. BCCI secretary Jay Shah is also the chairman of ACC.
