Asia Cup 2023: Haris Rauf Won’t Play For Pakistan On Reserve Day Against India, PCB Gives The Reason

India and Pakistan are facing each other today at R Premadasa Stadium in the super-4 stage match. On this reserve day, the Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf won’t be participating in the Asia Cup Super Four match against India in Colombo. Before the match he experienced slight discomfort in his right flank during the originally scheduled match day on Sunday.

However, the injury of Rauf is still not clear and PCB stated,”He was subsequently taken for a precautionary MRI, which revealed no tear. He is under the observation of the team’s medical panel.”

Pakistan will rely on their three pace bowlers, namely Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Faheem Ashraf. Shadab Khan will serve as their primary spinner, while they will utilise the part-time offspin of Iftikhar Ahmed and Agha Salman in the team’s bowling combination.

On Sunday, Rauf bowled five overs without taking any wickets and gave away 27 runs. Despite not getting wickets, his bowling provided some control in an innings where India’s openers, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, both scored half-centuries and established a strong partnership of 121 runs and gave India a flying start.

Due to rain, only 24.1 overs were bowled on Sunday, causing the game to be postponed to the reserve day.
