Anshul Kamboj, after taking his first international wicket for India, said he wants to get better. The bowler, who has done well in Indian domestic cricket, is now India’s 318th Test player, filling in for Akash Deep, who has a groin problem. On the second day of the fourth Test at Old Trafford, Kamboj got a big wicket for India, dismissing England’s Ben Duckett for 94.
It felt good to get my first international wicket, Kamboj said on JioHotstar. I wanted to bowl in the right spots, and that was my plan from the beginning. Some balls were good, and some weren’t. To be honest, I still want to bowl better. I will try to improve tomorrow.
About his plans for Day 3, he said, I tried harder in my first two spells. In the third, I backed my strengths and bowled to my areas. Tomorrow, we want to bowl in good areas again and get them out as soon as we can. We must stop them from scoring fours because they are trying to hit boundaries instead of taking singles.
Kamboj also talked about what he’s learning from Jasprit Bumrah. I learn a lot from Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj by watching what they do and understanding what to do in different situations. We talk a lot, and it’s about changing our approach based on the conditions and the match.
Rishabh Pant’s brave batting after a foot injury stood out on Day 2, as India scored 358 in their first innings.
England’s openers, Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, responded strongly, putting England in a dominant spot. England closed the day at 225/2, with Joe Root and Ollie Pope not out.
