The Women’s Premier League has started. The third match of the league was played between UP Warriors and Gujarat Giants. In which UP Warriors won by 3 wickets. Gujarat won the toss and decided to bat first, setting a target of 170 runs in front of the Warriors. UP registered a victory over Gujarat with the help of Grace Harris and Kiran Navgire.
Kiran hit 53 runs in 43 balls with the help of 5 fours and 2 sixes. But a note-worthy thing was seen on her bat during this splendid knock of 53 runs. The name of former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was written on the bat with which she batted. She told that he is a big fan of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Before the league started, she had said she is a big fan of MS Dhoni and admired him since she didn’t know about cricket properly.
“Cricket to pata bhi nahi tha jab Dhoni sir ko follow kar rahi thi. I didn’t know much about the World Cup 2011, where it was happening or if India were in the final. I was a kid then and hardly had any idea about the game. So, the game was being watched at my home also. I asked my brothers about it, and they said it’s the World Cup final and India
playing against Sri Lanka,” Navgire said.
She further added that the six hits by MS Dhoni in the final of the ODI World Cup 2011 always impressed her. And whenever she hits six in the match, it gives her confidence.
“The innings he [MS Dhoni] played and the six he hit to finish the game still impresses me. I also wish to hit sixes like him. If I’m batting, irrespective of the innings, six maarne se mujhe bahut confidence aata hai (if I hit a six, it gives me immense confidence), and I’ll score good runs. Isiliye best hain wo (That’s why Dhoni is best),” she further added.
