Australian Women’s cricket team announced the squad for the upcoming women’s T20 World Cup title, all veteran players are coming back in the squad, and this all-mighty team is in full swing to defend the title. In 2022, Kangaroos beat India’s Women to win the title.
Five times world champions are the favorite in the upcoming ICC Women’s world cup in South Africa. And this time, their morale has been boosted by returning the leg spinner Georgia Wareham after a long injury. Wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy, suffering from a calf injury, is all set to make her comeback in the upcoming prestigious tournament and is expected to play. Meg Lanning is back in the squad and led the team in the world cup after a month-long break.
Australian women’s team national selector Shawn Flegler explained that it is tough to narrow down the squad to 15 members, and returning of Meg and Georgia back to action is always exciting for us, and our side is well-balanced side.
“It’s always tough to narrow a squad down to just 15 players, but we’re confident we’ve picked a well-balanced side. Seeing Meg and Georgia back in action for Victoria has been exciting. Both bring a wealth of experience to the group, which is always crucial during major tournaments.” said Shawn Flegler.
Further, the national selector added that the comeback of leg spinner Georgia boosted the side’s resilience.
“Georgia, in particular, has had a tough run of injuries, but she’s shown great resilience, and her return is a real boost for the side.”
Australia will warm up with home T20 and one-day series against Pakistan before traveling to South Africa. Australia will begin its World Cup tour on the 12th of February against New Zealand.
