Aakash Chopra Slams Captain Rohit Sharma And Coach Rahul Dravid For Mishandling Suryakumar Yadav

The Australian cricket team won the ODI series against Team India with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday. The final match took place in Chennai, where Australia won by 21 runs to clinch the series. India’s performance was poor, especially in their batting display throughout the three matches. It was the first ODI series loss for India at home.

Suryakumar Yadav was one of the batters who received criticism for his mediocre batting as he was unable to score runs and was dismissed for a first-ball duck in all three matches. In the first two ODIs Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed by Mitchell Marsh and in the third, he was caught by Ashton Agar.

Meanwhile, Aakash Chopra expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision made by the team management to demote Suryakumar Yadav. He appreciated the support provided by head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma to Suryakumar despite his poor performance in the first two matches. He looked unhappy with their choice of sending him at No.7 in the series decider.

“Playing SKY in the last ODI was the right thing to do. Sending him at 7 wasn’t. If you want to back someone and have faith in their abilities, you ought to walk the talk. IMHO,” Chopra tweeted.

Although Aakash Chopra’s tweet did not directly mention Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma it was an indirect message toward them. In the pre-match conference before the third ODI, Rahul Dravid had stated that he wouldn’t give too much attention to Suryakumar Yadav’s consecutive first-ball ducks.

Rohit Sharma also came with the same statement after India lost the third ODI where Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for a golden duck for the third time in a row.
