Aakash Chopra Picks Probable Playing XI For The 2nd T20I Against South Africa

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has picked his probable playing XI for the 2nd T20I match against South Africa slated to be played in Gqeberha. Aakash feels that the playing XI which was selected for the first game, will feature in the second game as well.

The first game between the two teams was washed out in Durban, on December 10 due to heavy and continuous rainfall.

While speaking on his official YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra opined that six players from this squad will not play in this series. The former cricketer added, “Only a two-match series is left. It means six people will now not play cricket in this series. So six people from the 17-member squad will not get a chance now because whoever you play today, you will play them in the next match as well. It is obvious.”

The ex-Indian opening batsman suggests that Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill could be favored ahead of Ruturaj Gaikwad in the opening positions.

“So who will open? I feel they will ask Ruturaj to wait because he plays ODIs as well. So he can play ODIs and they can get Yashasvi and Shubman to open here. In the middle order, I feel Rinku Singh at No. 5 and Jitesh Sharma at No. 6.”

Gaikwad has been included in India’s squad for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa, whereas Jaiswal and Gill did not make the cut. Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav are highly likely to secure batting positions ahead of Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma.
