Mumbai Police has registered an FIR against unknown persons for promoting pharmaceutical products without the permission of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. An FIR has been lodged against unknown people for using Sachin’s name, photo and voice to promote medicinal products without his permission. An official gave this information on Friday. Unknown people have used Sachin’s name, photo and voice to advertise without his permission.

An advisor of Tendulkar complained in this regard with the West Zone Cyber police station on Thursday, an official informed.
The complainant mentioned that he came across an online advertisement for a pharmaceutical company, which claimed that Sachin was endorsing the company’s product line. They also found a website, sachinhealth.in, which promoted these products using Tendulkar’s photograph.

This website was promoting these products by wrongly using Tendulkar’s picture. This complaint stated that Tendulkar had never permitted the company to use his name and photographs and was tarnishing his image, so he directed his associate to take legal action.

An FIR has been registered against unknown persons under sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery) and 500 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code besides the Information Technology Act, the official said, adding further investigation is underway.

On May 5, the complainant was shown an advertisement on Facebook and Instagram in which Sachin’s picture was visible. In this advertisement, it was said that Sachin endorses these products. This website was selling fat-reducing spray using Sachin’s name. It was also claimed that the person buying the product would get a T-shirt signed by Sachin. However, this is not the reality. For this reason, a complaint was made to the police, and now a case has been registered.
