Virat Kohli continues his fine run in VHT with a prolific 77 after 100

The legendary Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has continued his excellent form in 50-over cricket, hitting another flamboyant innings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The team’s star player had a remarkable tournament beginning with a terrific century in Delhi’s opening match of VHT against Andhra.

He continued with another influential innings and backed up his team against Gujarat by performing like a lone soldier.

Virat Kohli shines in VHT with a smashing fifty

Gujarat had an excellent start to the game after winning the toss and opting to bowl first, with Chintan Gaja getting the in-form Priyansh Arya out. Nonetheless, the left-hander’s early exit did not affect Kohli at all, as he exuded elegance right from the start.

Kohli, who is praised for his extraordinary skill of holding up the innings, took a lofty route to rescue Delhi from the early trouble. While Priyansh Arya’s opening partner, Arpit Rana, saw through 30 deliveries without a hitch at the other end, Kohli went the other way, battering Gujarat bowlers and bringing up a crucial partnership of 72 runs with the former.

The pair of Arpit and Nitish Rana fell victims to Gujarat’s left-arm spinner Vishal Jayswal, who took two wickets in two balls. On the other hand, Virat Kohli was still attacking the enemies and that led him to a brilliant half-century. He struck the bowlers hard by hitting thirteen fours and one six in his 61-ball innings of 77 before getting stumped off Jayswal’s delivery.

Virat Kohli’s gorgeous form has pushed his participation in the 2027 World Cup to the very last moment

The question of whether the Indian cricket star will retire or not did gain some momentum, however, primarily due to Virat Kohli’s unsuccessful performance during the first two ODIs against Australia. Nevertheless, despite his previous championship performances, the critics again raised doubts about his ability and fitness for the 2027 World Cup.

Then came the dead rubber in Sydney which acted as a boost for Kohli allowing him to silence his critics. The home ODI series versus South Africa was the cherry on top, as he hit two consecutive amazing centuries in the very first matches to the point where the question about his place in India’s 2027 World Cup lineup was absurd given his current form.
