Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh took a shot at Punjab Kings’ captain Shreyas Iyer for his dismissal in the IPL 2025 final, calling it a “criminal offence.” The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally won the IPL trophy after 18 years, beating Punjab Kings by six wickets in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Iyer’s dismissal was a turning point for Punjab; he was caught for just one run off two balls from Romario Shepherd.
Speaking about Iyer’s exit, Yograj Singh told ANI, The shot Shreyas played in the final was a criminal offence, in my opinion. Ashok Mankad mentioned this to me; there’s a law for it, and you get two-match suspension for that. What Shreyas did isn’t acceptable, and there’s no excuse for it.
Looking back at the match, Punjab won the toss and chose to bowl first. Arshdeep Singh (3/40) and Kyle Jamieson (3/48) took crucial wickets, with Yuzi Chahal (1/37) also keeping the runs down. Virat Kohli scored 43 runs off 35 balls to stabilize the innings, while Rajat Patidar (26), Jitesh Sharma (24), and Liam Livingstone (25) helped RCB reach 190/9 in their 20 overs.
During the chase, PBKS got off to a decent start with Priyansh Arya (24) and Prabhsimran Singh (26) putting together a 43-run partnership. Josh Inglis (39) and Shashank Singh (61 not out) fought hard to keep up with the scoring rate, but despite Shashank’s impressive 22 runs in the last over, PBKS fell short, making 184/7. Krunal Pandya received the Player of the Match award for his outstanding bowling.
