Azhar Mahmood won’t be part of Pakistan’s support staff for the upcoming home series against Bangladesh. He’s been on the staff in various roles for five years but has not been kept for the three T20 matches. Instead, they’ve brought in Australian Ashley Noffke as the new bowling coach to work with Mike Hesson, who is the new white ball head coach. Local player Hanif Malik is taking on the batting coach role.
Hesson just started his two-year contract this month. The PCB is also looking for applications for other coaching roles, including batting, bowling, fielding, and strength and conditioning. The deadline for applications is June 5. It’s been mentioned that the current support staff setup for the Bangladesh series is temporary. There’s talk that Azhar could be considered for the red ball head coach job.
Since 2023, the PCB has gone through a number of head coaches, both foreign and local, including names like Grant Bradburn and Mickey Arthur, with many of them leaving after just a few months.
