Cheteshwar pujara hopeful of getting an opportunity for the upcoming England series

Not too long ago, Cheteshwar Pujara expressed how he was feeling about his non-selection from the Indian cricket team. A potent candidate for the No. 3 batting position, he last wore an Indian player cap in June 2023. Having been discussed as a candidate for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, the selectors, however, did not see it fit to include him.

Pujara claimed cricket is his passion, and that keeps him motivated to make himself available at any time. You know, it’s really tough when you have been at the top level for so many years, played more than 100 Test matches in your career, and still, not be in the selection. It is sad, yet what keeps me going in cricket is the hard work of being prepared…stay connected to the game as much as I can, working hard, whether it be domestic or county cricket,” Pujara said in an interview on Backstage with Boria.

To top it off, the Indian team will be touring England for a Test series in June, which is vital for the captain, Rohit Sharma, especially following his side’s less-than-stellar showings against New Zealand and Australia. Pujara said he would love to be part of a winning force should an opportunity arise. “India has been competitive, but winning a series in England has become like a distant dream for us for nearly 20 years. If I get the chance, I am ready to give my best and help the team win,” he added.
