Watch: Ms Dhoni’s Sad reaction after getting dismissed against RR

On Sunday, MS Dhoni was out on the very first ball of the final over, losing the match for Chennai Super Kings against Rajasthan Royals by just six runs in IPL 2025. Dhoni looked pretty good with the bat, scoring 16 runs off 11 balls, and even managed to hit a four and a six. When the last over started, CSK needed 20 runs to win, and everyone was hoping Dhoni would pull off a miracle. But, in a sad twist, he got caught out in the deep. Sandeep Sharma bowled a low full toss, and Dhoni went for a big shot. Unfortunately, it went right to Shimron Hetmyer, who caught it effortlessly, leaving the fans feeling pretty let down.

Rajasthan’s Wanindu Hasaranga really put the brakes on CSK’s chances, making it tough for them to chase down the runs. He took four wickets for 35 runs, which really helped seal the win for RR as they restricted Chennai Super Kings to a score of 176 for 6. This loss marks CSK’s second in a row, which isn’t great news for the team.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of CSK, did put up a strong fight, scoring 63 runs off 44 balls, with seven fours and one six. But Hasaranga’s relentless bowling kept the pressure on the batsmen. By the time Dhoni came to the crease at number seven, the situation was already tricky. Ravindra Jadeja also contributed, finishing not out with 32 runs from 22 balls, and both he and Dhoni tried to give fans a last-minute thrill.

They brought some excitement to the game in the 19th over, where Tushar Deshpande had a rough time, giving away 19 runs. Dhoni hit a six and a four during this over, which lifted spirits, and Jadeja ended that over with a six of his own. But then, with 20 runs still needed in the final over, Sandeep Sharma kept his cool, conceding just 13 runs and managing to dismiss Dhoni. Hetmyer’s stunning catch sealed the deal for Rajasthan Royals.

Before all this drama unfolded, Nitish Rana had already set a solid foundation for RR with his explosive 81 off just 36 balls, smashing 10 fours and five sixes along the way. It looked like Rajasthan was heading for a score over 200, but Chennai’s bowlers fought back strongly in the closing overs. Matheesha Pathirana, Noor Ahmad, and Khaleel Ahmed all chipped in with two wickets apiece, helping to limit Rajasthan to 182 for 9 in their innings. The match was full of tension and excitement, and it certainly kept everyone on the edge of their seats right until the end.
