Indian star Virat Kohli was honored by the Delhi and District Cricket Association for the landmark milestone of playing his 100th Test in March 2022; since then, he has played 23 more Tests. But since he was in the national capital for his first Ranji Trophy match since November 2012, the DDCA decided to have him honored; besides, Ishant Sharma and Virender Sehwag are also players from Delhi who have gone on to play 100 Tests.
“It was long pending. Now he is here, so we thought we could honor him,” a DDCA official said.
On the occasion, DDCA president Rohan Jaitley presented a memento and shawl. The brief felicitation ceremony took place after stumps on day two.
Last year, following India winning the T20 World Cup, DDCA had handed over a cheque worth Rs 75 lakh to a member of Kohli’s family.
In the morning session, Kohli was out for six.
