Sai Sudharsan is set to play for Surrey for another County season as the contract gets renewed

Indian cricketer Sai Sudharsan is set to go back to England to join Surrey for the County Championship. This player from Tamil Nadu has already played two games in the championship, scoring 116 runs, including a fifty, and contributing to Surrey’s 22nd title win. In an important match, Surrey, leading the division one table, will play against Essex, who are in second place and only two points behind. The game is scheduled for June 30, Sunday, at The Oval.

The 22-year-old has played in three One Day International games for India and has scored a total of 127 runs. This includes two scores of over 50 runs in a row against South Africa in December 2023. In longer format cricket, he has scored 1,118 runs in 29 innings.

Surrey is currently leading the South Division. Sudharsan’s first game this season will be at home against Essex on Sunday.

Surrey has a very strong team with players like all-rounder Sean Abbott and American leg-spinner Cameron Steel. West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach also played for Surrey earlier this season.

“I’m really happy to be part of Surrey again. I enjoyed being with the team last year and I want to do my best to help the club win more games,” Sudharsan said on the club’s website.

“Playing cricket at the Kia Oval is amazing and I’m excited to play there again wearing the Three Feathers.”

Surrey’s Director of Men’s Cricket, Alec Stewart, also said, “We saw how talented Sai is last year, and we’re glad to have him back with the team, where he fit in really well.”

Sudharsan was not chosen for the 15-player team for the 5-game T20I series against Zimbabwe. Abhishek Sharma, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Reddy, and Riyan Parag were picked for the first time in this format.
