“Great White ball innings…”Ex England’s skipper massive praise for Rohit Sharma ahead of India’s clash against England

Indian team leader Rohit Sharma took charge in a big game against Australia during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. His strong batting performance, scoring 92 runs off just 41 balls, helped India win by 24 runs and eliminated Australia from the competition. This victory was important for the team after they lost the 2023 World Cup final to Australia.

“I believe the shift in mindset began after the World T20 semi-final in Adelaide, and it was clear during the 50-over World Cup in India and throughout this tournament, especially since they left New York,” Nasser explained on the Sky Sports Podcast. “They struggled to adapt in New York due to the bad pitches. The conditions were so poor that they couldn’t play freely. However, as their batters gained confidence, they returned to that mindset, which is mainly driven by Rohit Sharma.”

“If you’re going to lead by example as a captain, like he did before the game against Australia, it’s important. He mentioned, ‘I’m not concerned about scoring 50 or 100 runs; I’m more focused on what happens after the score, like the number of balls faced and the strike rate.’ That was one of the best limited-overs innings I’ve ever seen. It was a perfect mix of grace and power. He took on Starc, hit Cummins with a slog-sweep, and played a shot over extra cover. Visually, it was one of the most impressive innings I’ve witnessed. It was truly amazing,” Nasser said.

England also recently chased down a target of 116 runs in under 10 overs, with their captain, Jos Buttler, playing aggressively and scoring an unbeaten 83 runs from just 38 balls against the USA. But the pitch in Georgetown, Guyana, is slower, which might not let them play the same way. This makes the upcoming match a tough challenge for both teams.
