IPL 2023: Huge Setback For Gujarat Titans, The Star Player To Miss The Opening Game Against CSK

In the first match of IPL 2023, the defending champions Gujarat Titans will face the four-time champion Chennai Super Kings on 31st March. However, there is bad news for the fans of Gujarat before the opening encounter.

The South African batting star who was one of the pioneers for the team in lifting the trophy last season will miss the first game at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Miller was the third-highest scorer for Hardik Pandya & Company last year and without him, the management would look to find a strong playing XI.

David Miller was absent from South Africa’s first match of the series against the West Indies as he was returning from PSL. Unfortunately, the South African team without Miller lost the first ODI match to the West Indies by 48 runs at Buffalo Park in East London.

The next task for South Africa is to beat the Netherlands in their upcoming two-match series to secure their spot in the ODI World Cup. For this, Cricket South Africa has requested that all experienced players remain available for these important games. As a result, the South African team will join their respective IPL franchises after April 3 when the Netherlands series terminates.

“They (Gujarat Titans) were really upset. It’s always a big thing playing in Ahmedabad. I am a bit disappointed to be missing that but to put on the green and gold has always been a huge privilege and honour and we have got some work to do in those two games against Netherlands,” Miller told ESPNCricinfo.

David Miller has played in 105 matches in the Indian Premier League, and during this, he has scored 2,455 runs in total.
