‘For the first time in 10 years, I didn’t touch a bat for 1 month’, Says Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli is known for his aggression and intensity and the kind of energy he generates among the team members is incredible. However, for the past few weeks, Kohli had been talking about mental health and challenges and he came up with a statement where he talked about how alone he was even in a room full of people.

The cricketer is making his comeback from the Asia Cup after taking a rest for the West Indies and Zimbabwe tour. Recently, Kohli has talked about the mental breakdown and stated that he had not touched his bat when he was not there with the team. He detailed how he was exhausted with the mental, emotional, and physical stuff.

Star Sports posted a video in which Kohli said, “For the first time in 10 years, I didn’t touch my bat for a month. I realized that I was trying to fake my intensity a bit recently. I was convincing myself that no, you had the intensity. But your body was telling you to stop. The mind was telling me to take a break and step back.”

He further added, “I’m looked at as a guy who is mentally very strong and I am. But everyone has a limit and you need to recognize that limit, otherwise, things can get unhealthy for you. This period taught me a lot of things that I wasn’t allowed to come to the surface of. When they eventually came up, I embraced it.”
