The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly intending to hold the final match of the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and one of the semi-final matches at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
A total of 48 games will be played during this tournament across 12 venues all over India.The upcoming ODI World Cup is to be held in India in October-November although the official schedule has not been announced by the ICC yet. With a seating capacity of more than 100,000, Narendra Modi Stadium would be a fitting location to host the finale of this marquee event.This stadium has been selected to host the opening match of the Indian Premier League 2023 and it is expected to be the venue for the IPL final as well.
The final of the 2011 World Cup where India lifted the trophy under the captaincy of MS Dhoni is expected to host one of the semi-final matches in the upcoming World Cup. However, the report also suggests that the much-anticipated match between India and Pakistan may be scheduled to be held in either Chennai or Delhi.
