Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has praised Virat Kohli for his impressive 95-run knock in the 2023 ODI World Cup against New Zealand on Sunday, October 23rd. The match was played in Dharamshala and the star batter helped India to get the fifth consecutive win.
In his post-match analysis on Star Sports, Watson highlighted that it’s important for people to recognize Virat Kohli’s ability to make chasing targets seem effortless in all forms of cricket. Watson commended Kohli for his remarkable efforts and acknowledged his consistent success in world cricket.
“People have got to realise it’s not that easy to chase runs, but Kohli makes it look so easy. He’s just done it for so long that he just makes it look so easy. It’s challenging because you’ve got to work out who you’re batting with, which balls to take down, which ones you got to be a bit more lower risk at,” Watson said on Star Sports.
Watson asserted that Virat Kohli’s cricketing acumen operates at an elevated level, noting that Kohli possesses a deep understanding of the game, allowing him to make well-informed shot selections at various stages of a chase.
“Virat has got that internal computer, which just work so efficiently, and he just knows what you need to do at the right time. It’s not like it’s just like a walk in the park. It’s a World Cup game against an undefeated team which is in fine form and his internal computers does his thing. It’s absolutely beautiful to watch,” Watson further added.
