2023 ODI World Cup: Shubman Gill Creates World Record, Surpasses Hashim Amla To Get This Huge Milestone

India is chasing a target of 274 runs against New Zealand at Dharamshala where men in blue got a flying start. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill stitched a partnership of 71 runs for the first wicket. Rohit Sharma clocked 46 runs in 40 balls while Shubman Gill scored 26 runs in 31 balls.

During this inning, Shubman Gill achieved a world record and became the fastest batter to reach 2,000 runs in the history of ODI cricket. Gill has achieved this milestone in 35 innings. Before it, this record belonged to Hashim Amla who got 2000 runs in 40 innings.

The third in the list is Zaheer Abbas(45), and the fourth batter in the list is Kevin Pietersen who has completed his 2000 runs in 45 innings.

In this match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first. New Zealand set a target of 274 runs. For Kiwis, Daryl Mitchell scored the maximum 130 runs which includes nine fours and five sixes. All-rounder Rachin Ravindra got 75 runs in 87 balls with the help of six fours and one six.

For India Shami picked five wickets while Kuldeep Yadav got two wickets. Bumrah and Siraj managed to get one wicket each.
