2023 ODI World Cup: England Will Qualify Into The Playoffs Or Not? Aakash Chopra Gives His Bold Verdict

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra feels that despite a huge loss against Afghanistan, England still have chances to make it into the semifinals. In the match played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Afghanistan beat England by 69 runs.

Hashmatullah Shahidi and his team established a target of 285 runs for the defending champions when they were put in to bat first. After they dismissed England for 215, secured a decisive 69-run victory and inflicting the second loss upon Jos Buttler and his team in their initial three games.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Chopra expressed his belief that England will advance to the knockout stages. He said that England’s batting will definitely do wonders.

“Will England qualify for the top four? They have made the job slightly difficult for themselves but I feel they will. I feel they will find a way. At some stage, their batting will fire.”

The former Indian opening batsman anticipates a competition between England and Australia for the last semifinal spot.

“I don’t think they have a rockstar bowling which will do an amazing job but I think they will manage. So England should qualify. India, New Zealand and South Africa are looking the best. I am assuming the fourth team will be either Australia or England but let’s see what happens.”
