Zim vs Ind, 1st ODI: Indian bowlers kept in-form Zimbabwe batters at bay, India beat Zimbabwe by 10 wickets

The three match ODI series between India and Zimbabwe on 18 August (Thursday) in Harare. Team India took a 1-0 lead in the series.

Batting first Zimbabwe only managed to score 189 runs and got all out in the 41st over of the first innings. In reply openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shubhman Gill took India home winning the match comfortably with 19 overs to spare and 10 wickets in hand.

Indian captain KL Rahul won the coin toss and elected to field first at Harare Sports Club. Indian bowlers led by pacers thrashed in-form Zimbabwe batters.

Coming into the series Zimbabwe batting line up looked dangerous as they recently defeated Bangladesh in the white ball series. But Indian fast bowlers namely, Deepak Chahar who is making return to the side after injury, Prasidh Krishna and Mohammad Siraj reduced Zimbabwe to low total. Zimbabwe innings collapsed from 25-0 to 110-8. Thanks to a firm partnership between tailenders Brad Evans (33) and Richard Ngarava(34), Zimbabwe finished on 189 at the end of their innings. Captain and wicketkeeper Regis Chakabva was the top scorer (35 runs) for the team.
For India Deepak Chahar, Prasidh Krishna and Axar Patel took 3 wickets each and Mohammad Siraj picked 1 wicket. Chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav goes wicketless.

Coming to bat there was no answer against Indian openers Shubhman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan by Zimbabwe bowlers.

They took their time and picked the right balls to attack. Shikhar Dhawan scored a glorious 81 runs in 113 balls with 9 fours proving his mettle yet again in the ODIs. Young gun Shubhman Gill spared no one and smashed 82 runs in just 72 balls with 10 fours and a six to his name.

Shubhman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan both are continuing their great form from previous white ball series in West Indies.
