Former Indian opener and now renowned commentator Aakash Chopra has given his verdict regarding the spinner’s choice for Team India in the upcoming ODI World Cup. The former KKR opener said that Kuldeep Yadav will be the first choice for the spinner’s role in the marquee event.
In the third ODI of the series against West Indies, Kuldeep Yadav gave an outstanding performance and took 2 wickets for 25 runs in his eight-over spell. This contributed to India’s convincing victory over the West Indies by a margin of 200 runs. In this series, Kuldeep showcased his brilliance and captured a total of seven wickets in the 19 overs with an economy rate of 3.21.
Aakash Chopra shared a video on his official Youtube Channel and recokened that Kuldeep Yadav is ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal in the race of getting a place in the ODI World Cup.
The former opener said,”Kuldeep Yadav has once again further enhanced his case. He picks up wickets and is actually considered ahead of Yuzi (Yuzvendra) Chahal, and he did like that only. He picked up wickets whenever he was given the ball.”
He further added,”If Kuldeep Yadav continues picking up wickets like this, there is no doubt he will be the No. 1 spinner. (Ravindra) Jadeja is an all-rounder, Axar (Patel) will be an all-rounder but Kuldeep Yadav could be that guy who remains as the first spinner.”
