‘Yuzi Chahal Will Not Be There In The ODI World Cup As Well Because…’, Aakash Chopra Talks About The Future Of Star Leg Spinner

The BCCI announced the Indian squad for Asia Cup 2023 yesterday on August 21. Fans and cricket experts are surprised to see the omission of star Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal from the squad. Meanwhile, the former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has said that Yuzvendra Chahal’s omission from India’s Asia Cup squad suggests that he probably won’t secure a spot in the World Cup team either.

The selectors announced a 17-player Indian squad for the upcoming Asia Cup tournament. Among them, Kuldeep Yadav is the sole wrist-spinner, while Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are the two finger-spinners included in the squad.

While having a conversation on his official Youtube Channel, Aakash Chopra said that he doesn’t think Chahal will make into the squad for the ODI World Cup.

The former opener said,”You are going with just one wrist-spinner in this tournament. I feel you won’t be able to create a place for Yuzi (Yuzvendra) Chahal for the World Cup as well because if it wasn’t created here, it won’t be created there as well unless there is an injury.”

He said that the management is looking for all-rounders at number 7 and 8 and that’s why Chahal got no place in the Asia Cup.

He stated,”I feel we have a slight obsession that we need a batter at No. 8. We have Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja), Axar (Patel) and Shardul Thakur, who can both bat and bowl. So you want all-rounders at No. 7 and No. 8 and because of that, you are unable to create a place for Yuzi Chahal.”
